33 weeks pregnant today. I’m on the home stretch.👌🏻

I’m looking forward to wrapping up work as it’s been insanely busy for the past month or more. Having some time to defrag from work, spend more time with Levi and shift my mindset to welcoming a new member to my family will be exciting.

I’m at the halfway mark of my 6 week enablement

I’m at the halfway mark of my 6 week enablement training program with @nikerunning. Three weeks to go!

My program shifts down gear from this week with fewer running workouts. This suits me fine as it’s getting harder to run/jog for longer than 30 mins.

I’m loving the yoga and strength workouts as I can squeeze them in between endless zoom meetings!

Making sure I tune into how I feel and don’t push my body is critical now. As doing too much or going too fast,l or for too long leave me feeling wiped and impact my desire to move the next day.

We had the best time exploring the features of the incredible Apple Watch. We surfed, we SUP’d, we swam and we got all bendy with some juicy yoga. It was pure bliss.

I’m almost 2 weeks into my 6 week enablement tra

I’m almost 2 weeks into my 6 week enablement training program that uses workouts from the @nikerunning and @niketraining apps.

Today I woke super tired and I was in a funk of a mood. 😒 The ‘Morning Run’ workout I did through the Nike Run Club app seriously turned my mood around.

Running an easy 30 minutes with @coachbennett and @andypuddicombe gave me energy, turned my frown upside down and made me feel proud of my effort.

At 31 weeks pregnant my running has definitely changed as my body grows a baby. My centre of gravity has shifted so I really need to concentrate on titling forward more. My calves burn, It’s a lot harder to breathe and there’s more pressure on my pelvic floor, pelvis, groin and hips. These changes mean I absolutely have to run slower and I’m fine with it, so long as it allows me to keep being able to head out for a run to move my body and free my mind.

PS. The Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit 2 are a sweet ride.

Last week I struggled to accept that my much-neede

Last week I struggled to accept that my much-needed week holiday with my family was sabotaged by work.

Instead of spending time at the beach with Andy and Levi or going for few runs, I spent a ridiculous amount of time in front of my laptop on videoconference calls.

I worked way too much and couldn’t give Levi or Andy the support and attention they deserved. I worked late nights and didn’t look after myself, and now I feel depleted. It’s not how I expected to feel at the end of a week at the beach.

All week I wrestled with the guilt I felt for not being able to be with my family, for stripping away Andy’s chance for a break and for not exercising and sleeping enough. There were tears, lots of swearing and anger. I tried meditating, late night walks and long showers to help me process the grief of losing this time with my family.

Then I came across this quote:

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” - Lao Tzu.

It hasn’t erased how disappointed I feel, but it has helped me accept what happened a little more.

Another thing that helped was the 20min run I did yesterday followed by a dip in the ocean. The short run gave me time breathe and process my thoughts and feelings. It’s one of my favourite things about running.

Hills are even harder when there’s a growing bab

Hills are even harder when there’s a growing baby taking up much-needed breathing space. I don’t look too happy about it either!

Still, it was great to get 5.5km in along the surf coast trail near Jan Juc. The gorgeous ocean views and my super lightweight Carbon X 2 runners took my mind off how hard the hills were.

While I might be thousands of kilometres away from the action of @hokaoneone Project Carbon X 2, I’ll be cheering on Australia’s very own @dion_finocchiaro, who along with 40 elite ultra runners will be chasing down 100K world records!

This is the second version of the event (the first took place in May 2019 and I got to watch it firsthand in Sacramento), and it’s set to feature some of the world’s best, including world record holders @walmsleyruns and @runcamille.

To show my support for Dion, I headed out this arvo for a jog along the cliff tops in Jan Juc in my very own pair of @hokaoneoneaustralia Carbon X 2.

After a week of taking it slower because of low iron levels, these shoes gave me the boost I needed to run strong! All the very best Dion! You’re making us Aussies so proud! 🇦🇺

I’m a runner. I’m not a health professional or a running coach, but I like to be informed. With each pregnancy I have sought the latest research and information (from reputable sources) about exercise and pregnancy to guide my workouts and ensure the safety of bub and me.

Pregnant women are some of the strongest people on earth. If moving by running is something they want to continue to do - or even start to do during your pregnancy - then I say more power to the mummas-to-be!

I get a lot of strange looks when I'm running with a growing baby bump. Instead of people giving encouraging nods or smiles, I mostly get concerned looks and even the odd well-meaning stranger telling me I should rest and put my feet up.

In response to prevailing unhelpful myths about pregnancy and exercise/running, I penned a letter for @bodyandsoul_au to mumma-to-be runners on why movement is so important during pregnancy.

Even though you want to, and you know you should, let’s face it - sometimes it’s hard to get your new year running or exercise routine started.

After a tumultuous 2020, many of us were hoping 2021 would be quite different. But the realisation is sinking in that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, that town, city and border lockdowns will continue and a great deal of uncertainty lies ahead of us.

I get it. This unpredictable setting is a bit of a motivation zapper. Personally, I don’t feel confident to lock in future plans and it feels premature to sign up for an event.

@nikerunning have team up with Head Running Coach @lydiaodo to design a FREE motivating and energising 8-week enablement journey.

The program kicks off TODAY, and it will help you to set positive movement, running and exercise habits for the year ahead.

What I love about this program is that on top of audio-guided running workouts from the Nike Run Club app, it includes some juicy new @niketraining Yoga workouts, and a Mindful Mondays series set to help start each week feeling refreshed. (I can already feel myself getting in the zone).

Workouts for each week will be delivered in the form of a weekly plan each Monday via the NTC and NRC apps, with a different weekly theme to help motivate and inspire participants to keep moving through the program.
